This is a fabulous route showcasing the best of the Yorkshire Dales. The roads were quiet with not very many bikes, even on bank holiday saturday. Lovely views. Some challenging climbs, and a steep descent towads Dent, watch out for the two gates (to go with the two on the ascent), the second is rather hidden as you drop round a steep bend. It is definitely a route for a clear dry day as that descent would be dangerous in the wet.

Good parking in Settle at Greenfoot, lots of space for even large vehicles with bike racks, as well as camper van spots, and only £2.30 for the day.
Not many options for a stop between Ingleton and Horton In Ribblesdale, the cafe in Dent was great, but the pub not currently serving food.

    1. This route was my favourite ride from last year. So quiet and beautiful! The climb before the decent into Dent had some brutal sections for me but i wouldn’t fancy it from the other direction! +1 for keeping eyes peeled for the gates.
From mile one it’s out into perfect cycling country. It’s tough but such a joy

  2. One of the most beautiful rides I have done – constantly in and amongst fantastic scenery. Agree with comments previously posted. Bike hire from 3 Peaks Cycles was great – 1 gravel bike (solely used on road) and 1 e-bike. Both performed as expected. Did the route in one hit finishing at the bike shop for excellent coffee and lunch so cannot comment on coffee stops on route.
One section on road was busy A65 Newby to Ingleton – but only in comparison to the quietness of all the other roads. Not busy if you are used to the Surrey Hills / S.W.London
Road conditions were fabulous – very few pot holes.
