Hi Jack
Rode this yesterday in the sun with a perfectly arranged northerly wind for the run back home. The stretch from Collingham to the village shop in Eagle is always a highlight, so pretty and peak green at the moment. Thanks
A lovely route ridden with my brother on his first 100k. Managed on 25c road tires but wish I had something more grippy for the short off road sections. The working windmill seems only to be open on Saturdays but well worth popping by, very interesting. Had to transport the flour for 50k though! There a picnic tables here too so a good spot for lunch if you’ve packed some snap.
what a fantastic route and so quiet. Well done for mapping it out for us all. Loved the old rail line bit especially.Lots to see en route as well, an interesting trip. I had a strongish head wind against me and when I got to circa 30 miles was worried if I’d run out of juice so instead of going up towards Leverton at Treswell carried straight on to Grove Moor and rejoined the route there. My Garmin still said 57.1 miles so pretty pleased with that. Highly recommended. My tip is that you can park all day for £3 at weekends in Newark Castle rail station and there is a Waitrose dead opposite (which I desperately needed for a loo break and a meal deal having finished). 68 and a half year old me pleased to have done it and in a reasonable time considering the wind and the mixed surfaces. Dry conditions all round helped
