No.26 Sun, Sea & Suffolk

To get to Dunwich beach, take the train to Darsham and ride a 500 metre section of the A12 heading north (there is a shared use cycling/pedestrian path on the left if required) and take the first right to Darsham (signposted Darsham/Dunwich). From here it’s quiet lanes through Darsham and Westleton and down to Dunwich. It’s very clearly signposted and about 6 miles.

  1. Was bought this book for Xmas. I spend a lot of time in Southwold and have done most of this route at different times. Nice website and a great book also!

Rode the circuit today (10th August 2022) although starting at Sizewell. Lovely trip through the lanes with a few church stops and the amazing ruins at Leiston Abbey. Great introduction to the delights of this part of Suffolk with an amazing depth of trails to enjoy. I rode in the middle of a heat wave/drought and the countryside looked ready to burn from end to end- luckily I saw no fires or evidence thereof. Instructions were good and accurate from the downloaded GPX file. Lunched at the pub at Snape Maltings which was overdue by the time I made it there!!

  3. We cycled the route this weekend. We stayed, and started the route from the Sibton White Horse. This wonderful, friendly pub is located directly on the route. Bike friendly with overnight storage, comfortable rooms, fantastic food and local ales. With its quiet lanes and very ridable off road sections, this is route is an incredible way to take in the Suffolk countryside. We’ll definitely be back to do it again.
