No. 26 Hammer and Chisel

A reader informs me that Cannon Hall (near Cawthorne) has put up ‘no cycling’ signs around the house and in the parkland. As a result, it may be necessary to walk bikes the 1km through the parkland from the Hall to Cawthorne. If you’d rather not, then you can either bypass Cannon Hall altogether by staying on the main road, or retrace your route back to the main road and turning left. On the way into Cawthorne turn left onto Tivy Dale. These options are indicated in the turn-by-turn directions.

  1. I did this yesterday (May 2021). Enjoyed it, stopping in Pennistone for lunch. A little bit muddy in parts, but to be expected following weeks of rain. As disclosed above, there are several prominent signs prohibiting cycling on the parkland around Cannon Hall, but otherwise gpx was all good. Was tough on the legs, but was a pleasant day out. Enjoy!
