Absolutely beautiful ride. Don’t try it on a road bike though unless you are prepared to walk a good bit. Some roads near the coast are in really really poor shape and most defintely require a mountain bike.
Hi Tofu, Glad you enjoyed it. Re the surfaces of the off-road sections, I rode them on my tourer with 35mm tyres and it was perfectly manageable. So I don’t think a mountainbike is required, but if you’re on a road bike then you will need to pack a strong sense of adventure, and/or be willing to walk a little.
I did it on my gravel bike without any issues or concerns, good route
I really enjoyed this ride, thank you
Thanks Jack
Great route. I would say one of the best ways of seeing this part of Cornwall. I have ridden the Cornwall coast on a bike packing trip. This puts a new perspective on the landscape and the nice villages. Some nice off-road gravelish tracks . Would say a gravel bike is the best option for this ride . Well worth having a go and if you’re new to Cornwall then stop and take in the sights and make it a day ride.
Thanks
Kevin
Great ride. Recommend Count House Café at Geevor Tin Mine Museum for lunch.
Fantastic view of an illuminated St Michaels Mount at sunset.
Amazingly met 2 others cycling the same ride… what are the chances of that in November!
I just came back to leave a review.
We’ve done several of the routes out of Lost Lanes West and this is possibly the best one so far. Very quiet roads and many, many picturesque views on route.
The section through the famous tin mines was especially fascinating.
We did it on gravel bikes and I would say they are perfectly fine, no need for a MTB.
I’m not a great climber but we did the whole route without having to dismount and walk.
We’ve done Violets and Viaducts (oakhampton) multiple times and I think Promised Land has s going to be a ride we do at least one more time.
