  1. Ridden on 17th May 2016 – my eighth “Welsh” lost lane.

I started from the swimming-pool car park (pay & display). The entry is off the B4234 next to Aldi. I rode 67km with almost 1100m of elevation gain. Though there are no steep hills, many of the lanes lead upwards – usually to the accompaniment of some splendid views to take your mind off the struggle!

This is a very enjoyable ride full of lovely little lanes. I especially liked the section along the bank of the River Wye not long after the start. The unusually embellished Norman church at Kilpeck is also a delight.

“Gair i’r gall” – I wished I’d read a little about the history and architecture of Kilpeck church before visiting (see for example the entry under Herefordshire at http://www.greatenglishchurches.co.uk). There’s so much there to look out for!

  2. Hi Jack. I am trying to download the .gpx file for this ride but it does not seem to be there! To check it is not my mistake, I have looked at some other rides in your Southern England book and they seem to load correctly on my iPad. Can you suggest a solution? I am hoping to do the Red Planet ride next week when on holiday in the Borders. Many thanks. Brian.
