Great ride but don’t make the mistake I did of starting @ the Sabden “Nick of Pendal” car Park = huge uphill to start and then the long pull up past the ski station to finish ! Suggest follow the book advice 🤣🤣🤣 – lastly glad I had the gravel bike with appropriate tyres Rd tyres would not cut it on the pot hole tracks and lose gravel sitting atop the lanes / having said that spectacular ride and views 👌👏👏

Lovely ride with some steep uphill sections. There are lots of rough potholed gravelly roads and one off-road section about 20 miles in which you could skip by carrying on along the main road. We were fine on road bikes but don’t take your best skinny tyres and don’t expect to fly down the descents.
We parked in Clitheroe at the museum/castle long stay, loads of space, but if you have bikes on your roof don’t take the small road under the train line!
Barley has a kiosk in the car park with ice creams, coffees etc. There’s a nice cafe (called ‘Delicious’) in Gisburn right at the junction.
