  1. We did this route on Saturday in wet/dry but muggy weather starting a little further North above Sheen. It’s another cracking route and even though I’m very familiar with the area, some of the roads are true “lost lanes” that I hadn’t discovered before. Chapeau!
The highlights were the quiet roads heading south to Ilam and the entire Clifton to Waterhouses section (lunch at The Cock Inn at Clifton was great too). The climb out of Ilam was tough but we really enjoyed the whole route.

  2. I rode this today, using an old Specialized rigid hybrid with standard road tyres, 33mm. What an awesome ride. The scenery was stunning, the climbs weren’t too bad, and the sections along the old rail-trail are fantastic. I don’t know this area at all, but will definitely be returning. GPX was spot-on, as usual. Plenty of coffee stops. I stopped at Hulme End Tearooms, next to the Manifold Valley information centre. Ashbourne is well worth taking your time riding through, there are some interesting shops and cafes.
